• In 50 years, life expectancy increases to 300 years

Imagine breakthroughs in the next 30 to 50 years result in the average life expectancy increasing to 300 years. And that people are able to retain their youth and vigor for a majority of their increased life span.

What effects does this have an society and people's behavior ?

For example, would people be content to work in low wage, unfulfilling jobs for most of their lives, or would they ultimately find something more satisfying to pursue.

Saving even a modest amount of money over 250 years would result in a huge sum of money. For example, saving $10/month with a 5% return on your investment over 250 years would result in a nest egg worth $630,112,320.37. But, would people actually save? Or would they keep living paycheck to paycheck. What would be the effects of the huge economic disparity?

How would various professions be effected by having workers with hundreds of years of experience? Could a new lawyer hope to compete against someone with hundreds of years of experience? What would a piano player with hundreds of years of experience sound like? How would a job, such as a tenured professor, be affected by a very low turn-over rate?

What would happen to the rate of social change if the older generations were still around with their ideals?

How would families be affect by having multiple generations of grandparents / grandchildren around? Would we see a new rise of 'noble' families or aristocracy arise?

What would happen to global population and resources? Would things like 'green energy' become far more important when people realize they will be alive when resources like gasoline are depleted?

It seems that almost all aspects of life would be affected by such an increase in life expectancy. So, pick any aspect you want and starting thinking..
